Figure is a creative platform centred around the social experience: an informal spot to grab a drink, meet new people, and try out a new hobby. By keeping workshops entirely non-committal and open to everyone, we remove the rigidity from learning a craft, turning a typical evening out into a relaxed space for raw creativity.
As the sole founder and designer, Figure is where I utilise my full multidisciplinary skill set, including handcrafted typography, animated assets, and physical merchandise.
DESIGN
I wanted Figure’s event designs to be fun, eye-catching and unique to each workshop and venue, while still feeling recognisably Figure. As the brand has become more established, the identity can be applied more freely, with its colour palette, motifs and visual language providing a recognisable thread across different styles. This flexibility allows each event to have its own character: from our usual life drawing posters to the medieval-inspired look of our block printing workshops.
BRAND
Figure’s identity is intentionally rough, tactile and handmade, from the slightly imperfect motifs to the hand drawn logo. The colour palette is inspired by the materials we use in our workshops, sugar paper, chalk, charcoal, grounding the identity in the physical experience of making. The visual language is designed to adapt across different mediums, embracing the imperfections and versatility of making by hand.
MUSIC
Music is an integral part of Figure’s sessions, helping to create the atmosphere and shape the overall vibe of the brand. I curate different playlists for each workshop, for life drawing, something calm and comforting, often with a soulful feel, while our block printing sessions are more upbeat to encourage energy, conversation and a social atmosphere.
VENUES
We currently have three venues across Central, South and West London. Each pub has a unique feel and space, and all are incredibly helpful and we're lucky to have them!
